3 Handis, 3 Deer.

This year I hunted almost exclusively with Handi Rifles, two of them brand new and their first season in the woods.

 6 point- .45-70, 405 Rem SP handload, 80 yds.  12/10/05
 5 point- .30-30 Hdy 130 Spire handload 180 yds.  1/07/06
 7 point- .280, Rem 150 factory load, 75 yds.   1/29/06

 I'm sold on 'em boys.  Have Simmons 4X32 shotgun scopes on the .30-30 and .45-70, and an Aetec 2.8X10 on the .280.  

  Alabama's season ends today, but I closed the book on it Sunday with the 7 point.

  Thanks for all the info here.  These guns shoot better and hunt better than they have a right to.

What is the bag limit where you are?  Here in KY we get one buck and 3 does.  Kinda stinks.  You can't shoot a buck unless you are sure that is the one you want.  Puts a little doubt in your mind when that 8 walks out.  Is it really worth it or will I see something bigger.

 OK--

 One buck and one doe PER DAY, Nov 19- Jan 31.  If you bowhunt, add Oct 15-Nov 19 to that.

 People don't laugh so hard at us in Alabama when they find that out...

Yeahbut, it takes 2 or 3 of those little Alabama deer to make one normal size deer!! :-D  :-D  :-D

 HA!

   Shook out like this:

 6 point- 125 lbs
 5 point- 122 lbs
 7 point-123 lbs

 So these were all young deer.

 Killed a 190 lb 8 point in '04, and a 170 lb 8 point last year.  Like most places, the only time you see the Big Boys is either very early in the season or the 3rd week of January.  A nice 10 point was killed a couple of weeks ago, the day AFTER all my available vacation was used up!

con grats....the secrets out.....h&rs and simmons scopes kills deer fasrer than most.... :D  got 2 with huntsman.<<does> a big wallhanger 10 with 445 s.m. and a 3 pointer with my stick.and barly missed 2 does with the gmc so far this past year.....at one time 15 years ago i had a different cal. h&r for all 9 days of rifle season,fron 4570 to 32 h&r mag.now i could do it but be 3 different calibers but 9 h&RS......all with simmons scopes of coarse......congrats again....jb..........oh ps ...buy another  nef / h&r and get 4 next year.,,,,,,,,jb
