F/A M92 454 Casull Rifle
« on: November 05, 2005, 10:55:01 AM »
I read a post on another forum that Dick Casull/Freedom Arms may have a 454 Casull M92 model rifle in the works.

Has anyone heard of this?

If it is I want one......... :)

I haven’t heard of this but it would be a nice gun to own. If this gun is being produced it is probably by Casull Arms and not FA. I’m not sure at what level these two companies are affiliated if at all. I wish I could help more.

Their url doesn’t seem to be brining up the right thing: www.casullarms.com
Their listed phone number is 877.886.0200

Take Care,
Scott

Rossi makes pretty much ALL of the Win Model 92 clones out there these days. Yeah the Jap's made some for Winchester and Browning. They already have it chambered to the .454 Casull and have had for a year or maybe even two years now. I think it's sold thru LSI as the Puma.

I know about the Puma's that Legacy Sport International is importing and have spoken with several people that have them. The fit and finish is ok on those rifles but lets compare them to how a Freedom Arms revolver is made. Total apples to oranges comparision.

The Puma's are ok but if this rifle where available could you imagine what it would be like.  8)

Dick Casull hasn't been associated with Freedom Arms in a lot of years. As far as I know the company he founded afterward is no longer in business. I have serious doubts FA is fixing to get into the rifle business. Post a question to Bob Baker about it on the FA Forum and he likely will respond, he seems to be keeping an eye on that forum here.

Sure if FA made it themselves it would be a nice piece of work for sure but man can you imagine the cost? The Rossi made 92s I have are fully the equal of the ones made by Winchester. Ain't nuttin wrong with them.

We aren't currently working on any rifle designs but we are always studying various firearms.  You never know, maybe some day we will come up with a design that fits our criteria and build it.

Bob firstly thank you for responding to my question.

If you do make one I will be one of the first in line.

My request would be for a 454 Casull or your new .500WE, 18.5" to 22" barrel, s/s, wood stock with an optional synthetic stock, minimum 10 round capacity, long enough action to be able to function/feed the heavier style cast bullets(360gr and up), ghost ring sight system, tactical light mount, scope mount would also be a nice option but not really what I need.

OOOOOh my I'm starting to drool..... 8)

Thank again

Make it .475/.480 Ruger. I prefer that to the .454 myself. That would be one powerful little package for sure. I prefer 20" to 22" barrels and full magazines. Made of SS with a gray laminated stock. Doubt I could pass on one of those.

Mr Baker I would like to add that a 2 piece take down option would be even better.

The only problem I see about all of this is that I'll finally stop waiting and break down and buy the Puma and that's when this dream rifle will come out.....

Oh well can always sell it again......... 8)

My "dreamer" should be a s/s double rifle in 375 JDJ (allowed to hunt with on everything in the world) made in very, very good quality (read made by FA).

Mr. Baker,

I would surely buy one if you decide to make it.  My suggestion would be to add the rear bolt peep much like the Winchester 71 Deluxe, and offer it with the pistol grip.  I have a prewar 71 and it is probably the finest made lever gun ever made .  I understand that some things have already been looked at on a shortened 86 action.  If you do this, please offer the sighting system and short tang pistol grip on your deluxe model.  Also, you could offer a shortened magazine and 20" carbine.

I also would be interested in a .454 lever gun from FA, but my guess is it would be very expensive. After all if a revolver is $2,000 how much would a rifle cost? $4,000? Imagine a Model 92 completely manufactured of 17-4 PH Stainless, with a half-round/half-octogon barrel, chambered in .454. Now that would be sweet. What would the stock be made of? Micarta, or maybe impregnated hardwood, or even a nice walnut. Just dreamin'.
