I am considering the Leupold FX-II 2.5x20 Ultralight for use on a lightweight, short-range (thick woods) type of deer rifle, and wonder if any list members have used this scope or its predecessor, the 2.5x20 Compact. As far as I can tell, the two scopes are identical except for the Multicoat 4 lens coatings on the new version.
I do know one person who tried the 2.5x20 Compact and liked every feature of it, EXCEPT that he felt that the eye position vs. scope centerline was more critical than he liked. I'm particularly interested in comments on this potential shortcoming.
Any suggestions about other low magnification, fixed-power scopes (new or used) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for the shared collective wisdom of other members.
