Long Range Loads
« on: January 29, 2006, 02:27:58 PM »
Hello fellow shooters,

I've been thinking about what long range loads I could try in my 300 Weatherby, and wanted to spew a couple ideas that came into my head for your opinions.  I anticipate shooting on paper from around 250yds.+.

My first consideration would be a 200gr. Sierra HPBT Match bullet from 2700-2900fps. Do those sound like good numbers? How about bullet stability over longer ranges?

My second was a 220gr. Sierra HPBT Match at around 2600-2750fps or so. What about those numbers and also in regards to bullet stability? My bbl. is 26" with a 1-in-10" ROT.

Thanks for any tips.
