.300 Win Mag opinion
« on: January 28, 2006, 09:17:32 AM »
I have a Encore with 243, 6.5x55, 308 barrels and am thinking of a
.300 Win Mag, factory barrel.
Does anybody have this setup and how does it shoot 165, 180, & 200 gr bullets?  Is the rifle too light weight for the heavy bullets?
The plan is for a deer / elk round out to 300 yds.

have a great day...

i just got the 300 win heavy barrell, and love it !!
i got it from a guy that hadnt fired it so the 2 boxes of rem corelokt 180s that i have put through it are the first.. i have only shot it at 100 and 200 yards and it groups about 2 inches, im sure it can do better with time and experimenting with loads and practice but 2 inches at 200 yards to me is darn good..
i say get it you will like it..
goodluck...jeff..
one good shot is worth the wait !!!

I had a 300 win mag barrel and shot 165 and 180 gr. Barnes X bullets in it. I got great accuracy with both.  :D
