Quest on pre-64 Pre WWII.
« on: January 28, 2006, 07:41:03 PM »
Gun has been reblued and one of the numbers on the serial number is gone. Its 3?, ??? (guns not here now) The action has the wavy lines on top along with the 2 slot screws on the outside for the peeps. Has the stripper slot on the top of the action which is consistent with Pre WWII. Barrel has 30 gov 06 on barrel. The stock is what confuses me. It has a black tip, raised cheekpiece, inlet swivels, metal buttplate, full wraparound checkering. What it doesnt have is Supergrade on the floorplate which is what the Supergrade had. Is it possible some of the PreWWII didnt have it on the floorplate? Took it to a couple gunstores but they looked at the bluebook and estimated the value at 350-400. They didnt seem to educated on Pre-64s. Brother in law has the gun for 400-425. Im no expert but i would guess it at 60percent. Gun shoots pretty good, Brother n law doesnt shoot or hunt. Its been in his closet for years.
