anyone put thier trust to a Leapers brand riflescope on a handi? I've been considering one of thier Accushot series for my .308. I know this is 50% off topic but i thought it'd get more attention here.

I have the full size 3-9x50 Mildot, Illuminated on an airgun, seems to work fine, but it has a very small view thru the scope, a large, thick black ring around the view is what you see. Also very critical eye relief from about 6x and up. Glass is clear edge to edge, tho. One of the members at RFC ordered an Accushot, he had it send it back because of a problem which I don't remember the specifics, but after getting 2 more replacements with the same problem, he gave up and got a refund. That's all I know about em, good or bad. My opinion on em is for plinking they're probably fine, but I wouldn't want one on a serious hunt.

no more than $160 i'd say. something at or above 10x with mil-dot reticle, a adj obj would be nice but i can pass on it if the scope really has the mil-dot and magnification. I looked at the Simmons 3-10x44mag with mil-dot for $99 from sportsmansguide, downside is no adj obj, and it could be gone from stock by the time i sell my Nikon, mauser stock and Simmons Pro-diamond 1.5-5x32.

Is this the one you are looking into??:

http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&src=iF12&prodID=LI33124AOMD

It's got side parallax (I believe..I have never seen it close in person though)  and a 30mm tube.

For $150 and shipping you can get the Mueller Tactical 8.5-25x44 Mildot, a quality scope without high chance of getting a lemon you do with Leapers. Best do it before next week, there will be a price increase on Feb 1st.

Well, the good news is the price increase will be more on the 50mm scopes, less for the 44mm and smaller scopes, but the best news is all the variable scopes except the Eraticator will have one-piece tubes after Feb 1, which will be great!! So along with the price increase are scope improvements.

No offense to the Tasco Varmint lovers out there, I have used that scope before. Greenish and yellow colors and blurriness where all I got.
If you really are looking for a Mil-Dot Scope with some zoom for under or around $100, why not go with a Bushnell Banner Mil-Dot?:

Natchez has all but one of the 44Mag scopes in stock, the 801056 is highly regarded at RFC, the illuminated models aren't.

How about this scope for the money?  With the Simmons warranty I don't see how you can go wrong. I have a 6.5-20x50 Simmons WTC on my H&R .223 and it's GREAT!!!....<><....

Tell me about that low powered scope you have, are you going to sell it? I need one, maybe you can get the money in time after all....<><....

buy this!!! i've put mine on every big gun i have. mine is clear tracks well and hold zero. this tasco and the muller are the two best buys for a cheap scope. and remember new tasco's have a great warranty (i think its lifetime), if theirs something wrong with it send it back it will be fixed.

that Simmons is only $60, i'm thinking i can sell you the low x scope where in i can get the 44 MAg you linked to. either that or the Tasco, i'd also really liked it. and by big gun whats big in your arsenal that has it?

i got a few Qs regarding the use of a cheaper target scope. when it comes to using the turrets, do most of you hold off the target rather than click adjust them? this a wearing Q, meaning do y'all avoid using the turrets as much as possible? Same basic Q for zoom ring, do y'all set it at a certain X or do y'all adjust it constantly to different ranges the target may appear at?

in a nut shell, would ya'll reccommend using the zoom and turrets as little as possible?

I don't mess with the turret adjustments, that's what the dots are for...
I usually don't change the magnification much - 16x, 18x, 20x seem to work best for the shots I'm taking.
I do use the adjustable objective frequently.

yes the dots are but, not as well as using them to range find then adjust with turrets. mitchell said it should be fine. if i do your method i'll actually havta shoot (not a bad thing reallu) at ranges to find where on the dot scale the shots impact. but then again i got a ballistic chart for my round i could have that with me and hold off accordingly.

Hi sniper, please don't get upset, but does this "that Simmons is only $60, i'm thinking i can sell you the low x scope where in i can get the 44 MAg you linked to." mean you will sell me that low powered scope for $60? If so, I'll take it and immediately send you the funds via Paypal, you will have the money in minutes, if not sorry for the bother. I'm not sure which message came first here, perhaps this was after the PM?....<><....

well i don't have paypal, otherwise i'd take it. i likely would've gotten the $99 Simmons anyway. 10x really may be to little, it was just an idea that popped into my uncontrollable head :)
