The Whitworth rifles were noted for their long range accuracy. A 3pdr.
Would allow you to have a Whitworth which did not require a special trailor and truck to haul it around. The 12pdr. barrel alone is 108" long.
Sometimes the end result is not the meaning of the hole project.
For me this would entail manufacturing the tooling to cut the hex bore.(you dont just pop out to Production tool and pick em up.) Making a rifling machine for same, cutting the breech thread ect. I find great satisfaction making and designing my own tooling, doing the work and having it turn out looking like it's is suppose to. The real thing.
Besides, if nothing else, it cuts down on the amount of time that I sit in front of this thing and the tv!
Have a nice holiday.
