What is the biggest blackbear you ever harv

I hunt in the southern part of Beaufort County NC. I believe the 880 lb. bear you are speaking of, was killed just a few miles away in the neighboring county. The story I got, is the bear was feeding on dead hogs. On hog farms around here the dead hogs are put into dumpsters that have a lid. The dead will stay there over night until they are picked up by a dumpster type truck. This particular bear would go and drag the hogs out of the dumpster. It was a legal kill and I think it is the state record.
Our club has killed a couple in the 580's and I did see a 610 last year killed not to far from us. Unfortunately my only kill has been 200 lb.... but it was one heck of a hunt!

I  went  Black bear hunting  for  my  first time this past  spring of  2005 on  Vancouver Island  with  Jim Shockey's  outfit.  What  an  experience,  not  only  did I  see  probbaly  100 plus  bears in  five  days, I  was  fortunate to harvest t wo,  my  largest was  estimated  at about  400lbs,  and  had  a  skull  of  19 3/8.  I  know not  a  worlds  record,  but any  trophy  I  am  fortunate to harvest  is  a  record  to me.

That  big boar  proudly  hangs  on  my  wall today! What  a  great time  that  was....look  forward to going  there  again!

I  was  very  lucky last spring and  hunted  with  Jim Shockey  on  Vancouver Island. Besides  the  hunt and  time  of my life,  (we  saw  probably  100 total  bears)  I  harvested  two,  the  largest  weighing probably  400 plus  pounds.  We  dressed  him  the field so  we  guessed  at  weight,  but  the  skull  was  19 1/2.

This  was  my  first  Blackie  hunt,  took the  big  boy  with  my  Winchester 300 WSM 180 grain, with  a  "Texas  heart Shot",  the  second,  slightly  smaller  bear  I  took  with  my  new  Marlin 45/70 Guide gun!

Hunts  were  both  adrenaline rushes  at  warp  speed!

Srwshooter- You live at the foot of the Shenandoah National Park, some of the largest bears in the country live there. I am always surprised that more of the park bears are not killed each year when they come down off the mountain!

I had no way of weighing the largest black bear that I have shot but it was just over 6' from nose to tail.

I  was  very lucky  this  past  spring;  harvested  two  big  blackies  on Vancouver  Island with  Jim  Shockey.  largets  was  about  400 plus  pounds,  and had  a  skull  of  19 1/2.

Had  the  time  of my life,  and  recommend  the Island  for  the  really  big  ones!
