Redhawk! Scope for .500S&W...cost not an issue!
« on: February 21, 2006, 04:23:02 PM »
Hey Redhawk,

Me again!  Okay, I have the Warne scope rings headed to my house for my son-n-law's .500 S&W PC.  I asked him today what kind of scope he wanted and his reply was "The best you can get...money is not a matter."  Well, me being a Leupold guy (since that's basically what I can afford), I suggested Leupold.  However, I'm sure there is an elite pistol scope somewhere out there that I'm not familiar with.  Any suggestions????  Thanks,

Karl

I am a Leupold guy also. If I was going to put a Leupold on the 500 Mag, it would not be the 2X or 4X. I like the VX-III 2.5-8x32mm Handgun. I have used the Bushnell Trophy 2X6X32mm with great success on my 500 Mags and 460 Mags. I have not tried the elite pistol scopes. Have you considered a Red-dot? I have an Ultra-dot on one of my 500 Mags with over 3000 rounds down the tube with it on. I also have the Ultra-dot Match dot on my S&W 460 Mag.  :D

Not to highjack the thread - but - I'm curious.

I'm wondering how a scope can/will hold up under that persistant big bore hammering it's going to take.

Anyone have a comment?

If you read my post you would see I have over 3000 rounds through mine. The key is a quality scope and a good set of rings and the scope mounted correctly.  :D
