I just bought a new Marlin LKever action 44 rifle. I would now like to turn My Handi rifle in 44 Mag into a cast bullet shooter. Anyone have some loads for HEAVY cast bullets?. I would also like some info on converting this rifle to the 445 Super Mag. Who has done this and what kind of results are you getting? Velocity and accuracy? Any good results on Big game taken with the 44 Handi rifle?

I Plan on doing a lot of work and hunting with the 44 Mag caliber in the future. I am a bit burned out on the whiz bang Magnums and 4000000X scopes and such. Thanks.

The heaviest I've shot is the hardcast 300 gr. and it shot as well as the 300 grXTP's. About 2 1/2" at 100 yds.. I did'nt chrono them,but I suspect it was in the same range as the 300 gr. XTP's which was 1646 fps in the 44 mag. and 1977 fps. in the 445 supermag.You could seat them out close to the lands and get better accuracy out of them. Digger

Did you ream your 44 yourself or have it done by a gunsmith? I take it that you gain about 150fps with the conversion? I have the 44 Mag synthetic stock Handi. It shoots well with everything I have tried in it so far but I have not really shot it a great deal as yet. Thanks for the info.

I reamed mine myself,and it took about 5 minutes on mine,and about the same on Lik2hunts.You can use the 44 mag dies,and they go from 1646 fps. to 1977fps.with the 445 in the rifle barrel. I'm getting 2166fps with the Hornady 265 gr. and over 2200 with the 240 gr. Its closer to the 444 than the 44 mag. Digger

Thank you. Where can a guy rent the reamer. Would it be the same place that Quick mentioned for the 357 Max Reamer?
