Got a question for you all. I just recently bought a SBH with a Leupold scope mount. I took the scope and mount off, and it had 2 holes drilled and tapped for the mount. I took it to my local gunsmith and asked him if he could fill in the holes with TIG weld. He said no, because Ruger uses investment casting, and it would turn the metal a weird color. Is this true? I am thinking of having it done anyway, then having the gun black parkerized. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Parkerizing will most likely work, but it still will probably be a different color at those two spots. If it's too objectionable, paint it with Gun-Kote or something similar.

I'd get some of the Brownells headless filler screws and simply fill the holes.. I get all hinky when welding on the frame of any high pressure revolver,, let alone the 44. We live with fillers all the time in rifles. It's nearly impossible to weld the holes shut without their showing after refinishing. It can be done how ever. Check with some of the restorers.

gunnut69 is correct, fillers and refinish.
the weld will never match, Ive been rebluing for 20 yrs and still catch heck trying to macth a welded spot
