.270 130g v. 150g
« on: February 08, 2006, 06:08:41 PM »
I have always shot 130g bullets out of my .270 win. which i have had for about 3 months. I have tried some different kinds, and for the price winchester powerpoints seem to shoot about 1 inch. This weekend I picked up a box of 150g, just to see how they shot. I had also just installed a set of flip open scope caps I recieved for christmas. The 150g bullets do indeed recoil more, the scope cap hit my brow, it still kissed my forehead with the caps off. Well I ended up shoting a 5 shot group, it was not a good group maybe 6 inches. This group size could have been from me, or the bullets, the only good thing was that the POA was the same as 130g.  I put the scope caps back on, grabed a box of 130g, and shot a nice cloverleaf, than shot a nice tight group at 180 yards. I will not be buying any more bullets besides 130g. I was also supprised that there was really no way to tell 130g from 150g if they had gotten mixed up, I guess you could weigh them.
