Bought a Colt New Frontier .45 today
« on: February 03, 2006, 06:19:02 PM »
From the time I was a kid I have wanted one of these. Got to looking around, just to see what prices and availability are. Found one NIB, unfired with an unturned cyclinder that someone wanted to get sold. The price was too good to pass. I'm telling myself it's an investment and will remain unfired and unturned. :)  Well, it could happen! :)  Have I mentioned how much I like being single at this point in life? I've done more gun trading in the past two years than I had in the previous 10... and I'm not done yet! :-D

Nice. When was it made? I have one in 44 with a spare 44-40 cylinder. I'm guessing if it's nib it's probably a 3rd gen. If i'ts 2nd gen, I have a short 45 barrel to fit it for sell.

Ya, it's 3rd gen. My guess is it will sit nice and safe in its' box until one day I apply my usual logic which is; I buy nice (to me) guns because I don't want to hunt/shoot with ugly ones. That would probably be this spring, if not the day after it arrives. Of course now I'm thinking a classic Colt .45 ought to have a classic Winchester 1886 45-70 to keep it company. But theres that .338 Kimber Montana coming out this spring, and my custom .300 needs a new barrel, and .... I need a second job, except then there wouldn't be time to shoot ... OH MY

Nice find....  I have seen a couple of them recently at local gun shows NIB for right at $1000,   I have a 5 1/2 44spl that I take out and shoot once in awhile.  I did pick up a 45 SAA NIB no to long ago very reasonable that I'm still debateing on shooting it yet..  Time will tell......
