O/T Chattanooga, TN Visit
« on: February 09, 2006, 04:15:19 PM »
Hey everyone,  the Wife and I are going to visit Chattanooga this summer.

I am wondering if there are any places I need to be sure to visit.

Also, are there any cool gun related places (or shops) that I should visit?

Thanks

Not in Chattanooga but if you drive up through the mountains - Smoky Mountain Knife Works is just on the other side of Knoxville in Sevierville, TN.

Smoky Mountain Knife Works, Inc.
2320 Winfield Dunn Parkway
P.O. Box 4430
Sevierville, TN 37864

Have never been there myself, but hear just the square footage/ floor space of displays is amazing!  Just has always been on my list if I got near on a visit.

I have been there.  Cost a few pennies to get out the door.  It sure is hard to leave a place like that with out buying a knife or 4.  It is worth a visit if you get by that way.  Thanks.

1) The river boat supper cruise.  I've forgotten the name of the boat, but it is well worth the price.

2) Chickamauga Battle Field.  One of the largest collections of Civil War Artillery.  Go to the museum, 1/2 is dolls and the other 1/2 is Civil War weapons.  This is a winner with wives & daughters.

3) Lookout Mountian.  Go up the inclined railway and think about 2 armies fighting up and down the slopes.

4) Just north of Chattanooga on I-75 is Racoon Mountian Pumped Storage Plant.  A lake on top of a mountian with a hydro-electric station at the base.  They pump the lake full at night and drain it down during the day to generate electricity.
