Hi All,
About 4 or 5 years ago I bought a Rem BDL SS in 375HH. I read somewhere or other that the factory tupperware stock was hollow and should be filled with spray-in foam insulation from a can to deal with this problem. So...I went and got some, took off the recoil pad and happily sprayed away until the whole stock was filled.
Fast forward to today. I load up a buch of 300gr NoslerP's and head to the range. I shoot two groups and the recoil pad starts to move. What the hell?
I give it a tug and off it comes. Seems the screws that hold the pad to the stock were completely rusted right through. Had a heck of a job getting the broken ends out.
I'd attribute the rust to these screws and only to these screws to the moisture and or acidity in the insulation. Anyone else have this happen?
