Just in on Minneapolis-St. Paul KSAX CH 5 Eyewitness News.  A Twin City High School passed a Dress Code which prohibited students from wearing shorts to school. As a protest, a male student started wearing a skirt, which was allowed in the Dress Code. The school told him he could not wear the skirt and sent him home.

ACLU to the rescue. Shorts are still not allowed, but boy's right to wear a dress remains intact. Chalk one up in the plus collumn, on the ACLU's scoresheet !!!!!!

I was glad to wear shorts during hot spells too. What disturbs me the most, is the fact that the ACLU didn't care about the kid's right to wear any socially acceptable form of clothing to school. Rather, they showed up to defend his right to be a cross dresser !  I see it as further proof that our vaunted ACLU has turned the corner, and has evolved into something that is over the edge of sanity.

Well, the school administration and board did their best to instill a little disipline in us. The problem they had, was that it was a small school. With only about 30 students in each class, and we were a pretty close knit group. Two weeks before I started 8th grade (1959), there was a notice in the paper that there was a dress code which would be vigorously enforced. Girls were to wear dresses, and Boys would were to wear only slacks and sportshirts, sweaters and sportcoats optional. The boys had always favored blue jeans, and girls had always been able to wear slacks or jeans when they felt like it. Two weeks was more than enough time to organize, so first day of school, about 90% of us showed up illegaly dressed. They sent us home. This was repeated for the next three days, and on Thursday, they acted as if nothing was out of the ordinary. I suppose there was a limit to how long they could afford to give up 90% of their State aid, which was based on each student attending on any given day. As far as I know, that was the only attempt at a dress code in this little town.

shorts in school...  "who wants to sit in the chair after the big sweaty guy.." not me... "the ACLU is a destructive force to the American Family and every thing I beleive in"  Some things seem ok on the surface but just keep looking beneth the waves and you will see, their agenda.

I heard a rumor that the kid was not cross dressing but rather, he was wearing a Scottish Kilt.

unspellable, It may well be your scource is right about it being a kilt. The newscaster said he wore a skirt, and vidio footage of him wearing it was from a departing angle, but I do remember it was plaid ? I have heard nothing more about it.
