Hello I have some questions on a couple of case trimmers that I am interested in. The two that I am interested in are the Sinclair ultimate micrometer case trimmer http://www.sinclairintl.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=RECTACSI&item=05-470&type=store and the CH Precision hand case trimmer http://www.ch4d.com/
I would be using the trimmer for both rifle and handgun.
So if anyone that has owned or used either one could you tell me how well they work and which one you like better any why as well as any other comments on these trimmers I would appreciate it.
Also if this question should be in another forum please let me know, I thought that this one looked best for this question.

I have never used the two trimmers that you mentioned but have used the "Forsters" case trimmer now for a few years and have had great sucsess with it. Very precise........Jim
ps. also have the deburring tool w/base..........all quallity stuff, check em out.

Wow, at first I thought you were into extreme precision with the Sinclair, but then you also mentioned the CH....

I've been using a Forster for around 30 years now with no complaints.

I had a friend lend me his Forster to try and I didn't have any luck with it.
I found that you might get one or two to trim to the length I had set it at and then it would trim more and need to be reset for length again, as well I had a bit of a problem with getting the case to fit in the holder properly.
I was looking at the other two because it looks like you don't actually hold the case by the bottom for trimming.
I have been using the Lee trimmer and found it good but there are times when I would like to trim cases a bit shorter, and I would like something that is easy and reasonably accurate.

I was having an error message coming up and I thought that it was not posting so I thought that I would try later and when I came back I saw that it had posted and did it multiple times.

I have the rcbs power trimmer and really like it its a little more expensive but i can use it to make 41 special brass out of .41 mag.

Read an article that rated case trimmers, only 6 different brands. Wrote them in my notes as follows as best to worst. NOT my opinion because I really don't know. L.E. Wilson, Forster, Redding, Hornady, Lyman, RCBS.

If your talking about the C-H that looks like a Wilson, I just get the Wilson and Sinclair sells all the goodies for them. Wilson is a much better tool than the others.

Thanks for the posts.
I think I will get a Wilson trimmer. Who has the best price for a Wilson trimmer? I know that you can get them through the Sinclair web site and I did find some Wilson stuff on Midway at about the same price.
I looked for the "X" but do not see one, I can edit the message but I can't seem to delete it.

has anyone used the lee hand held case trimmer if so does it work ok. i only reload 30-30 for single shot rifle looking for cheap way out.

I use the Lee hand held case trimmer. It works for me but I just started reloading not long ago and can't give you any kind of comparison to others. I would say you would be fine using it though.

I have used the Lee case trimmer for many years on 30-30 for my TC Contender with great success. I got one of the RCBS hand crank trimmer back in the early 90's thinking it would speed things up a little. It did not have the uniformity the Lee hand trimmer had. If you looked at the catridge end after trimming with the RCBS it was not as symmetrical as it was with the Lee.

I went back to using the Lee hand trimmer and sent The RCBS hand crank trimmer down the road. Maybe I was doing something wrong but I couldn't get the same satisfaction from the RCBS that I got from the Lee trimmer. The Lee was harder on my fingers but did a better job.

I have an admixture of different manufacturer's reloading stuff. I don't believe in sticking with a brand name. I use what I like best for the given job. Most of what I have is RCBS.

i seen one on ebay that has a wooden knob on it maybe this one would work better less stress on the fingers :grin:

Lee makes a spinner to chuck the case up in a 3/8in. drill. You can trim the case, inside and outside chamfer the case mouth, and with one of the green Scotch scouring pads polish your cases in just 2 or 3 minutes.

When you get stung with the reloading bug, you will get several. I have a lot of the Lee trimmers. One of the few great products they make. I also have an RCBS and Forster manual trimmer. Forster is my neck turner. RCBS is if I only have a few (20 or so) to quickly trim. For my main trimmer, I have the Lyman electric trimmer. I can do several hundred brass an hour with it. Most + or - .001. If it didn't work, I wouldn't have it. So...you can hardly go wrong with most of them on the market.
