Long Eye Relief Spotting Scope
« on: March 16, 2003, 11:04:24 AM »
Does anyone have a "good" long eye relief spotting scope for a reasonable price?   I have looked at the literature on the Leupold 15X40 and Bausch & Lomb Elite 20X60, but $700 is more than I can justify.

I need long eye relief due to corective lenses.

Any comments will be most appreciate.
Thank you in advance.

$700 sounds a little steep for the B&L.  Look at our sponsor's sites - SWFA.COM, THEOPTICZONE.COM, and DNRSPORTS.COM. and see how much they sell them.

Perhaps I'm getting them confused, but I thought that B&L had a 15x40-60mm.  or some other high variable power.  And I think that they are about $450 or so.  Then again, I'm not sure about the eye relief.

Rol Page,

I don't know how much eye relief you need or what power you are looking for, but here are a few that might interest you:

Bushnell Spacemaster 20-60x60 (eye relief 1.57") $168.00
Burris Landmark 20-60x80 (eye relief .8") $189.00

You are correct that the Bushnell Elites are around $750.00 with the 22x Long Eye Relief eyepiece.   The only models that will except the 22x eyepiece is the elite 20-60x80's.

I don't know if this helps you out, if not, let me know and I can see what else I can do for you.

Look at the newly released model by Leupold.  The new Wind River 15 X45 60MM with the angled eye piece was released just for increaded eye relief.  Think this unit sells for just over $200.  I'm looking very hard at this spotting scope.

DeeGee,

The Leupold WR Sequoia's have a eye relief of .6".  I think that Rol is looking for more than that, something over 1".  The Nikon Spotters have the same eye relief as the Leupold, but I believe are better quality.  Yes they are a little more money, but well worth it.
