Whats best, Bull or Regular Barrell?
« on: February 15, 2006, 03:17:29 PM »
I am thinking of ordering a 223 barrell for my Handi. The question is this. What is the advantage of going with a bull barrell over a regular barrell. Or is there really that big of a difference. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :D

My Fluted and bull barrels are more accurate than my regular barrels, regardless of caliber.......

Bull = better heat handling, so if you need multiple shots in a short period, go bull (ie Silhouette competition).
Only advantage I can see in regular barrel is weight savings; though there might be something else, but I dunno what it is.

Bull all the way. Stiffer, better heat disipation, thicker and heavier for reduced recoil,  less muzzle jump, In the case of the Ultras they are longer being 24" so they get a little better velocity, ...etc
The regular contours are great for hunting though, and when tuned, aren't slouches either.

Thanks guys. I have the regular 22" in the .243 and love it. I was just really wanting some advantages of the bull over the regular. Hey, thats what I like about this site, good helpfull advice and info from the friendly neighborhood  It's settled. I will go with the bull. How long can I expect it to take to get the barrel. I know I will have to send the receiver in to get a correct fit and match, I just want an idea how long I will be without my Handi

I just knew the first time when I sent my receiver off, that I wouldn't do it again unless I had another Handi for back up. It's a very good thing to have at least 2 receivers, it don't hurt as much to send 1 off then. :)

Now your talkin   I know just the place to stop by and just, you know, look around   Talking to my wife, "Oh honey, I'm just going to the gun shop to just look around." Think she'll buy it? Probably not. But hey after 11 years of marriage, the woodshed has become a second home for me :P
