wild hogs in "bama"

Since I may be relocating to South Bama within the next year, I thought I would try to find some place with a huntable number of wild piggies. I am not particurarly lookin for any monsters, I do not put heads on the walls. Just a personal thing. lookin to fill the freezer.
Thanks John

Plenty of them in south Bama and especially over on the western side. Down around the Baldwin and Mobile county areas they are kinda covered up with them. You'll do well on them if in that area.

G.B. thank you, looks like I am going to work down south in the hurricane clean up soon, might just be making a regular job of it. I need a home closer to the coast than Ky.
That was just the info I needed. i was trying to find Alabama fish and game website too, to find how many hogs can be killed and when, and so forth. I will need to rebarrel a savage rifle to something less high velocity than the 300 ultra, but that will be easy enough, I have thought alot about a 338-06, seems just about right.
 Thanks GB

If you are going to be here awhile then you definitely should get the Alabama Game and Fish Magazine. If you don't find them I can look in one for you and get the info you need to contact them. But they are the same folks that put out ALL the Game and Fish Magazines in the various states.

For the most part the articles in all of them are very much the same but in each issue a few are state specific. There have been a couple on hogs in Bama in the last year to 18 months. You might could find the back issues of them. I don't keep my magazines after reading them so am no help in identifying which issue they were in.

But it sounds like you'll be right in the best part of the state's hog area if you're in the clean up zone. There is a WMA down in the delta area, forget the name just now. It requires a boat for most access as it's really covered with a lot of water. From what I hear there are hogs all over it.

 Thanks again John

Yes. I don't recall the name of it right now but there is a big WMA down in the Delta area that is the best in the state for hogs. But it's mostly accessible by boat only.
