Do windage tables exist?
« on: February 15, 2006, 06:25:55 AM »
I'm planning on hunting antelope next fall using my .308 probably shooting a 150 gr handload with a muzzle velocity around 2700 FPS.  The evelation factor I can get using my range finder.  Are there ballistic tables that will tell me for my bullet weight that I need to allow X number of inches for a 15 MPH wind @ 100 yards or a 20  MPH wind @ 200 yards, etc?

Yes, kinda.  Hornady etc. have wind drift tables in their manuals, but they assume a 10 mph crosswind at 90 degrees to the bullet's path.  It is easy to convert for other wind speeds as the drift is directly proportional to wind speed.  A 2" drift at 10 mph is a 6" drift at 30 mph.

I looked in my Lyman reloading book and found the wind drift tables.  Thanks.
