Central Alaska Herd

The Fairbanks Advisory Commitee decided last night to support proposition 39.  This will allocate 35% to non-residents, with 25% of those going to a non-resident with a signed guide agreement.  I for one do not support this proposition, as I for one and many people that I know put in for this hunt everyyear and have yet to be drawen.  Only 150 permits are given out and I feel that residents should have first crack at those.  I feel setting aside 35% or 52 out of 150 permits for non-residents is too many in such a small hunt.  That only leaves 98 permits for residents.  The person making the proposal is a hunting guide.  He and his son both guide for sheep in this area, and are wanting to expand to Caribou.  As for the bad logistics of this hunt, I don't see it, I've hunted this hurd before it was a drawing hunt and got many Caribou from this area.  It's an easy hunt, can be done from 4-wheeler, walk-in, or fly-in.  Anyone that feels the way I do should send in a letter to the State Game Board prior to the March meeting.  Comments for this and any other proposals can be sent to:

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
