Seversal years ago when I realized I was missing out on lots of good fishing I bought a "Water Buster," it is an eight foot (about 4 feet wide) ABS plastic boat, it came with two removable piviot seats. The little boat has plenty of room for fishing and will accomdate two 225 lb men fairly well. It is very stable in the water, you can stand and move around without fear of turning over. I added a trolling motor and a 2hp gas motor to help get around in some of the larger lakes I fish. ABS plastic is the same stuff football helmets is made of. It is light enough for me to handle by myself when loading or unloading from my F-250 4x4. (It does help to have a friend.)
I tournament fished for twenty-five years, always fishing from a fully equiped Skeeter 175 Starfire. It took some adjusting to get use to the smaller boat, but I can truly say it has been a blast. I have been able to fish places I never could before and have spent many hours in the little boat while being blessed with plenty of great bass action.
Check Bass Pro Shop, or in some places a like boat can be found at Wal-Mart.
