Rendezvous Attending
« on: February 27, 2006, 07:27:22 AM »
For those of you who attend Rendezvous...is there a rule about typically belonging to a ML club in order to be part of a Rendezvous?  I don't mean this in a bad way just an honest question.

I'm sure belonging to a ML club would be very helpful however for some folks this may not be possible. And if a club is not required, what is expected at the Renezvous (dress, shelter, manners, etc...)

I personally have never seen a problem
Nor do a see a reason a person would need to  be part of a club . Now if the rendezvous is a juried event  then you may have to pass inspection  .

These are often much easier and more enjoyable if you have a mentor to help bring you up to speed  but not necessary .
There are  plenty  in fact  most that I go to  are not this way .  The only requirement is you show up  pay the  fee and have a good time .
A good rule is to always call the contact person for information if you have never been to that event before . This way you get a good feel for what expected of you  and you can be prepared
 Remember its about having fun

No need to belong to a club :D  But most require good faith efforts of participants to be kinda close too olde tyme' style dress,,ie: bedroom slippers are better than Nike' cross-trainers,,bald is better than baseball caps,,,the cell-phone is best set just "on" and left in the truck,,PM's,IM's and Voice-mails can be answered later. No "T" shirts or "tank" tops,,No plastic stuff,,Bottled water,soda-pop,beer,,just pour it in a cup discretely prior to consumption."tin cup rule".
Now notice I said "participants". Anyone can go to a vous'. And welcome. All most all I know, have a place for modern camps beit trailer, motorhome,pick-up toppers,pop-ups or modern tents and gear just outside the actual vous' site for those that want to be there and have fun.
Heck! just go! ask for a feller called "booshway" :-D  chances are if you arn't set-up proper too "participate",,,someone will loan' you the gear you need so ya can :D  :D

I remember my first one,,I e-mailed the guy!! told him I ain't got no clothes proper,,and I asked if I could shoot with'm all just this one tyme with-out,,just ta see what it's like to shoot with a group of trad BP shooters. He said OK, just once. That was a May. June, I went to another with my modern tent, a drop sleeve shirt and painters pants with the pockets cut off!. In August (all the same year) I had my first canvis A frame,,,,,,,now I have 6 gun's,,two tents, a "full-size" truck,,buckskin,,Elk hide, buffalo mocs',,(bead-work on allot of it!) and have been seen polishing old horns from cows and peeling bark from Lodgepole pines!
i'm a realist. i've not seen it all, but man ,,I've Been Around the block once or twice

lostid hit it on the head.  Contact the booshway and let him know you haven't ever been to one and what to expect/bring.  Most will try to help you be a part of the proceedings.  As always, give us a report on how it went!
