I have both ,and the RUM has greater range and more power as you know. the recoil on the RUM is worse by 15or20%. the remington factory ammo is ok but if you reload the RUM can be a jack of all trades. if you buy a .375 RUM you should get a Limbsaver pad . :-D

I've been looking at the Remington XCR 375UM and can get one for around $700. It comes with a Limbsaver installed from the factory.
My questions run along the lines of not only handloading up to lay the smack down on a cape buffalo or a big bear but loading it down to hunt whitetails here at home.
I have only found Remington brass and factory loads. Does anyone know of another brass source?

I have 2 375 rums.  Sorry to say that I have not killed anything with either one.  To my knowlege remington is the the only source that I am aware of for brass.. Some say that the 375 RUM is that the velocity of this gun is more than the bullet technology for it but who really knows..  Some one on hear has hunted cape with one and said it absoultly pounds them.  As far a recoil I cannot tell much difference between it and my 458 win mag. But if I have any advise get the 375 RUM it is trully a sweet item..  Shooting a gun like this that has the flat trajectory of a 270 with 150 gr is trully remarkable..  :D

I have the XCR in the 375 RUM, my soon to be wife bought it for me as a wedding present. I wanted one since last year and she got it a couple days after they became available. It is a great looking rifle, but it is light for the caliber. I don't mind the recoil, but it does move you. I am getting around an inch and sometimes better with both loads from remington at 100 yards. I haven't killed anything with it, but it will be my deer rifle this year. I am going to either load down or just use factory loads. 700 bucks is a good deal in my opinion. I say pick it up.
