I'm looking for a .41mag revolver witha 6"-10" barrel for putting a scope on to hunt deer, black bears, etc, any suggestions?  I was seriously considering the Ruger super blackhawk bisley hunter, because I really like the look and the action.

Well case closed. That's what you should get.
Thoguh if I were going after anything bigger than deer I'd get the biggest, baddest, most powerfulest caliber I could handle.

7.5" Ruger New Model Super Blackhawk Hunter Bisley. This gun has a scope base machined into the barrel and comes with rings.
Probably The best bang for the buck.

I just got one (.41 Bisley Hunter) about two months ago and I'm still smiling from ear to ear.  I'm a hard headed ol' coot and I still think that six guns and scopes don't mix, but....when reality sinks in I hear my old eyes screaming for help.  And if I'm gonna shoot a scoped six gun, the Bisley Hunter IS the way to go, at least for me. Go for it!!!  Walt

:cb2: Yep, to all the above.

I love my S&W M57, but if I were buying a huntin' gun to be scoped, I'd sure go with a Ruger Bisley.

Now, it money was no object, a FA83 in .41 . . . (sigh)

Depends are you a DA fan or SA.  I just recently bought a FA83 in 41mag with a 4 3/4inch barrel and I love it.  I like it so much a am getting rid of my xps, strikers and my S&W 460 to afford some  more.  My next purchase will be a 10" FA83 in 41 or maybe a 7.5" for scope usage.  I used to be only a S&W guy, but the FA is a  work of art and is the most accurate revolver I own.  I know they are expensive, but they are worth saving for.  Also with the FA in 41 it has twist that will allow you to shoot heavier bullets than most other 41 models.  Ruger makes a good gun.  to each his own.

Last year I got the SBHH in .45 Colt, topped it with a Leupold M8 2X scope and absolutely love it!

I would suggest that you handle both the .41 Mag Hunter and .41 Mag Bisley Hunter and feel what is best for you.  For me, the Bisley shape just feels a little awkward in my hands while the standard grip feels really natural and "rolls" nicely with recoil.

Either way, I don't think you could possibly go wrong with a Hunter model...

Having owned a Ruger Bisley 41 and S&W 657 I would say go with S&W hands down.  I think it is just a much better gun than the Ruger.  But one is DA and one is SA, you need to decide which you prefer.  As far as a scope, Leupold makes a base for the S&W that runs $17 and $21 for some rings and the gun is already drilled and tapped.  I personally would rather have the scope on the topstrap rather than hanging off the barrel.

I already have a Taurus RB in .454 that I can scope, but I wanted something a little smaller for different game.  I love SA for hunting, and that usually how I fire my DA revolvers anyways.  I use a single six for small game and love it, so this SBH hunter looked to fit the bill just well.  I already have revolvers in .44mag and .454, so now I somehow need the .41.....  Wierd how that works  :D

I have both the .41Magnum hunter and the bisley version. I find myself shooting the bisley more because I find it more comfortable. Last I checked, Davidson's inventory said they had 40 of them left I think. I've got a FA 83 and 97 in .41Magnum, but I usually end up carrying a Ruger. You might look for a Ruger Redhawk with rings in .41Magnum, too. They are really stoutly built and take abuse I wouldn't do to my Smiths. Anyway, the .41Magnum is a great cartridge so enjoy it. :D

You can't go wrong with a Ruger!
They are strong guns. There is a lot of aftermarket support for accessories. They have a reputation for being accurate.

I prefer double acution.  I have several Smith and Wesson modles.

My favorite for hunting is a 8-3/8 inch 657 PC Hunter.  This hase the scope base milled into the barrel.

I shoot 265 gr HardCast gas checked bullets loaded HOT and it works and performs excellant.  I have killed deer with it the two seasons that I have had it.

My back up is a 657 Mountain Gun, loaded with JHP.

I bought a 41 mag blackhawk just today...this is my first SA wheelgun.  I hope that I can shoot a SA.
