Blurry Reticle On Tasco Target Scope
« on: February 21, 2006, 12:50:14 PM »
I'm having trouble, lots of trouble, keeping the Mil-Dot reticle in focus when looking at my target.
Was at the range over the weekend, clear daylight, and the reticle kept going out of focus.  When I aim into the sky and look through the scope, my eye adjusts and the reticle comes in clearly.
As soon as I focus on my target (paper @ 100 meters), the reticle goes blurry.
This happens regardless of the magnification or focus point (same thing for random targets between 50-400 meters)
Anyone have any suggestions?
I've got the target in focus just fine, and my eye relief seems ok as well.
Is this just the demise of a cheap scope or am I doing something noobish and silly?
Thanks.

You need to focus the ocular ajustment first, you're not adjusting the focus properly if you are letting your eye do the adjusting....read this, particularly step 4....

Yep do as Quick says, adjust the eye piece first. I usually have to screw it several turns out for mine to clear up.Also check the Objective lens, mine was not turned in all the way,it took 1 complete turn before it hit the stop.
I hope this helps.(I have 3 of the 6X24X44's)  Digger

Hey Tim,
Do you have any experience with the Tasco 36x44 target scope.  This is the one made in Japan several years ago.  Not one of the new China scopes.  Don

A bunch of fellas at RFC do, it's a real popular scope. I have a bunch of Japan made Tascos, but not that one, great glass, just without the modern coatings.

Nice to see you "up and around cyberly" again!!
