M.96 trigger

Looking for advice on tuning the trigger on my M.96. It is very inconsistent and very heavy. does someone here know a fix for this, short of buying an after-market trigger? thanks for any advice I can get.

First thing I would do is give it a good cleaning. Might have dirt or cosmo in it.

:wink: CHeck out a Timmney trigger.  I use them on all the 93, 94 and 96 mausers I sportrize.  If you want to keep it full military you can stil use the Timmney for shooting, and slip the original back in afterwards.  No gunsmithing required in most cases............. :roll:

hndgnr:  rockbilly has a good suggestion and I will follow up with a recommendation for Bold Triggers.  Some milsurps, even the best of the Swedes, have horrendous triggers that leave very little room for improvement.  Bold Triggers can be used with the original military safety if you wish, or you can get a bolt block that replaces the safety and use the safety that comes with one of the Bold models.  I have used Bold Triggers on 2 of my Swedes and the improvements are well worth it.  JMHO.  Mikey.

Checkout www.midwayusa.com they have sales on triggers every now and then and you can get a trigger and save $$ too.

I just got a swede M94 and it has had trigger work done and its awesome and so much smoother than the others I have too.  I also put a little moly on the bottom of the bolt on the sear where it mates to the trigger it also smooths it out even more.

Thanx for the advice guy's.  Cleaned the rifle and did a little work on the sear block. going to shoot today, will see if there's any improvment. If not it looks like a Timney trigger in my future.
