I just recieved my Sidekick today. Unfortunately due to work it may be awhile before I can get out to shoot it. I have always shot Hornady 240gr XTP's with a TC break Away sabot over 100 grains of loose 777 with a #11 cap out of my old CVA. Does anyone know how this might perform out of my Sidekick? I know that every load is different but I'm just looking for a general idea here. I am also looking to find out if there is anyone that uses the TC sabots and what they think of them?
Thanks

Meatball, I have found the Huntsman and Sidekicks shoots almost every bullet you feed these guns.. That sounds like a good load... I have shot the 240 XTP with a T/C mag sabot, and two 50 grain Pyrodex pellets with excellent results.

Meatball,
I shoot the 240 XTP's in my sidekick over 90 grains of loose American Pioneer Powder. I get 4-5" groups with the fiber sights at 100y. Not too bad since most of my range time is during the winter here in maine and its usually 20 degrees. I also shoot .490 roundballs with 50g of APP and a prelubed bore butter patch...very accurate plinker!

Do you guys use the .44 cal or .45 cal XTP? With my break a ways I have to use the .44 because the sabot is so thick that a .45 won't fit. I have also used the 180 grain XTP with excellent results. I was getting 2" groups a 100 yards with it over 80 grains of 777. I shot one deer with the 180's at 60 yards quarting towards me. It went in just infront of the right shoulder and came out midway down his ribs on the left side. Didn't damage much meat but it literally blew most of his heart out of him. Needless to say he dropped right there. I am really looking forward to getting out to play with my new Sidekick. Thought about it today because the weather is decent but the I realized I need to get some 209 primers. Up till now my muzzleloaders have all used #11 caps. Guess I'm finally moving up woth the times.

Meatball, I use 44 cal. 240 XTP with mag sabot and 45 caliber 250 grain T/C Shock-wave. I know you will enjoy 209 primers, I use Winchesters....
