Rifles finished and shoots awesome.110 grains of powder behind roundball and very little recoil.I browned the barrell and all metal and used tung oil on the stock. It looks good but also looks like a big log or railroad tie.Its just all brown.Gonna be used for hunting so I didnt want it to shiny.Looking through the archives I got some good advice and all I can say is you guys ROCK 8)

Very cool!! Great rifles and I love Tung Oil. I really like it on guitar necks. Jack.

Congratulations!!  Please tell me you can send pics. I've done all of the metal parts plum brown on mine as well and was very concerned about what you spoke of (even before I did it).  I haven't finished the stock yet, but I may not use the reddish brown stain I was planning on if I could see some other all browned examples...  Thanks

Might be awhile before I can get pics .My camera broke while I was rolling to the bottom of a canyon with a hind quarter and a front shoulder of elk on my pack frame. :x Totally destroyed the camera and tenderized the meat and me also. :) Will try to get pics soon.

Sorry to hear about the mishap, but the bright side is you got an elk!!!
If you can't post the pics, its no big deal.  I was throwing around different combinations of browned and blued parts in my mind a little while ago (fearing that the colors would be too similar) but I was persuaded to continue with the all brown theme when I saw a real nice custom rifle that was done up in that fashion.  I guess I'll just have to do a bit of fancy brass inlay to break up the monotony :) Good luck !!

Ever get that camera fixed? Been thinking about browning my hardware on my ole Lyman.
