sort of. friend bought it for me and i will have to pay him back when my handgun licence arrives. old, bit of a fixer upper in 7.63 Mauser. $400 cdn, pretty good price, i've never seen one sell for under $1200. i know fiochi makes ammo, do any of the big companys make dies, and s there  more availble caliber ican convert the brass from?

kevin.303 - one of the first things I would do with that fixer-upper is stuff a new set of springs in it - I think Wolff in Pennsylvania makes spring kits for the C96 Mauser pistols.  As for ammo, Fiocchi makes 30 Mauser ammo and Sellier and Bellot makes the 7.62x25mm ammo that is interchangable with the 30 Mauser.  Have a gunsmith check the barrel and frame for cracks and if she headspaces alright then a new set of springs should get that baby shooting again.  You may also wish to visit Ron Reed's site for load data for the 30 Mauser/7.62x25mm to see if there is a particular load that he offers that you and that C96 might perfer.  Have fun.  Mikey.

everything i've read says don't fire 7.62x25 tokerev in a Broomhandle unless you want your face rearraranged, and this one is i think a 1904 or 1905 production gun.all matching numbers,barrel is dark and pitted, but not gonna complain for $400. will get some Fiocchi, and here's a dealer up here that hasa good stock of C96 parts, but i can't see customs hassling me over springs, but you never know...

here's the pictures the seller sent. pretty dark( or my monitor is really dark), when i arrives in my friends possesion i'm going over to fondle it and take some better pics.

check the bolt stop closely for cracks ,, these are great gun but do not fire  them excessively..

due to the cost of ammo and the fact that i'm new to reloading, i won't use it much, and will work up a light load for it later. will replace the bolt stop regardless, $40 buys peace of mind from having the bolt sticking out of my face.

Nice FInd Kev congrats as long as that bolt stop is a problem piece  and I do not know I am not that familular with the gun it may be wise to buy several of them then you will have them on hand.  Jim

well i went to look at it today, and i am one happy camper! it is n a lot better shape then i thought., no visible cracks in the frame or barrel, but will still hve it checked out to on the safe side. here's some better pics. this wass my first time handling a C96, felt pretty good, nice trigger, wouldn't want to use those sights in low light though. all in all a very nice pistol and i am very pleased. it will take 5-15 for the registration to transfer to my friends licence, once it's in his name we'll strip it down anfd give a through once over. the bore looks pretty dismal, but nothing telling what a good cleaning can do!

kevin.303:  the 7.62x25mm ammunition you should not fire in your C96 is the Austrian, Chech and Chinese mil-surp stuff made for the sub-machine guns.  The Sellier and Bellot 7.62x25 is made for pistols like the Tokarev and the CZ-52.  The S&B chronos 1398'/sec from my Tok, which is a hair less than it should chrono from your C96 with its longer barrel.  

I have not heard of any accidents with the C96, or the Bolo Mauser, in 30 cal using the S&B ammo.  HTH.  Mikey.
