Where & What do you hunt?
« on: March 17, 2006, 07:16:46 PM »
I am looking for people to hunt with. Unfortunately, I can't find many people that are into hunting in my town. I have gone on some guided hunts over the last few years but have done so alone. That's okay, but would rather go as a group. I would like to meet some people who are interested in different hunts such as deer, hogs (year round), exotics (year round), bear, caribou, etc. Either guided or unguided. Public land or private land.

Please contact me. Let's get some hunts going.

Don't know if you have hogs where you live, but I'd gladly take you deer, predator, or small game hunting here in VA in return for just a chance of shooting a hog down there?

I hunt antelope, deer (both whiteys and mule), coyotes, and prairie dogs here in eastern Montana.  But that'd be quite a drive for you.  In this forum I'm assuming you're talking about a handgun hunt.  I do both rifles and handguns.

Have you considered joining a local gun club?  You'll meet like minded individuals there and maybe line up a hunting partner.  From the NSSF web site I found a link to many clubs within 60 miles of Naples.

Thanks everyone. I am always up for some good company and good hunting.

Gregory, after the shooting range closed here (the owner sold the land to a developer...guess what happened then?), I contacted the 2 gun clubs that are within 30 - 45 minutes of me. Both put a cap on membership and both are full. They put my name on a waiting list and I have to wait for a member to not renew.

But, I just joined SCI. http://www.scifirstforhunters.org/ It seems as though this might be a great place to meet hunters and go on hunts that they sponsor. Also, they have a local chapter here and have meetings regularly. I'm sure most of the local members hunt with eachother.

Thanks!

You should consider joining the North American Handgun Hunters Chapter, which is an SCI National Chapter, and Handgun Hunters International (HHI), which you can link to through the SSK website.  Both groups have at least one handgun only hunt each year.  Good Luck.

That's not too awfull far from here. I live in Pulaski county. Lot's of great hunting land around here if you know how to talk to the land owners. We also have Jefferson National Forest which is a truely huge expanse of public mountain land.
