SB1 or SB2

What is the difference?  I believe that the Huntsman that I have is an SB1. I have been told that all Huntsman rifles were made on SB1 frames. I am  considering getting the smokeless barrel for it and understand that is not a problem with either frame. Comments anyone??

Keith

If the huntsman is a SB1 the only barrels that you can get for that frame are ML and shotgun . The SB2 is required for all centerfire barrels .

Go to the FAQ's in the H&R centerfire forum and it will give you the info you need as far as which is which , sb1 or sb2 .

If it is a SB2 , then you can get ML , shotgun and centerfire barrels on that frame .

Keith, if you're referring to the aftermarket smokeless barrels, yes they should work fine on either frame.

Thanks guys, that is the information I was looking for. I am considering the aftermarket smokeless barrel and I was pretty sure it was OK to use the SB1 frame as they say a shotgun frame is OK.  All the pressure is in the barrel anyway so the strength of the action is not a question according to Smokeless Muzzleloading INC.

Click on the www.smokelessmuzzleloaders.com and you can see for yourself. They have been making the aftermarket smokeless powder muzzleloading barrels for some time. I have read several reports from owners that seem to be very satisfied with the quality and performance. The price is around $325 (Sorry I think the link is www.smokelessmuzzloading.com/).
