Just purchased a new muzzleloader.
Haven't shot it yet....in fact I've never shot a muzzleloader before period.

I really didn't intend to scope it but I have a feeling my eyes and the fiber optic sights aren't going to get along together.

If I do wind up needing to scope it, I'd prefer just a 4x fixed power scope.
I really don’t need anything more and I don't care to make a big $$ investment in optics.
The reality is I may not get the opportunity to hunt with it much, if at all in some years.

Never having shot a ML before, I really don't know what kind of punishment it might exert on a scope.
Any recommendations on a low to mid-priced fixed power scope that'll hold up to a muzzleloader?

Big 6x6 and others recommended the SWIFT 656 40 mm 3x9 scope to me for a cheap scope.  I bought it (gloss version) from SWFA for $95 which includes shipping cost. It was backordered but shipped directly from the factory in about a week. SWIFT has a good guarantee on their scope. It does have a 3" eye relief so I am alittle concerned on clearance as I am at the minimum recommended clearance for a muzzleloader. SWIFT has a 4X and a 6X scope in that same line which are cheaper. SWIFT also carries a higher priced line than what is described here. Optics and construction look great but I have not shot it. Hope to shoot it tomorrow. All I know that I have not heard bad things on them yet. I did get bad feedback on the Pine Ridge (Cabelas brand was on sale for $60) (2x7) muzzleloader scope and a Redfield (2.5x) scope that I was considering. A poster told me that they had the Pine ridge scope and it did not hold zero. The Basspro shop told me he did not think the Redfield I was looking at would hold up if I did alot of shooting or used heavy loads.  I did read and thru conversations that on average the fixed power scopes are more reliable than the variable scope. I also saw a nice 32 mm Nikon 4x scope in Walmart for under a $100. Again, from what I have read, of any of the gun products, I think there is a high variabilty in customer satisfaction at the low end of scopes that narrows as you go up in price.

I agree with the Nikon 4x!!! I was talking with a Nikon rep, and he laughed saying the 4x would be more than adequate on 99% of game in US.. I bought that Walmart deal I think like 97 bucks. You put it up and the whole world is in front of you. Been terrific for me!!!

Yes it is. I am going to buy another soon. Just to have on hand as a backup. I have a 1.5 - 5 Leupold VXIII that I love. But it is not $200 better than the Nikon!!! Good luck in whatever you decide.....
