spring is near....anyone else excited
« on: March 01, 2006, 06:24:53 PM »
My favorite time of year is quickly approaching....it has only recently become my favorite time of year due to my introduction to beaver trapping a few years back. It's something about the high creeks, warmer weather and territorial beaver that really gets me excited now.

It's also my last semester of college and this year for spring break my brother and I are trapping beaver and hoping to catch an otter in there to fill our tag as well. 1 week of non-stop trapping....I can hardly wait, hopefully the weather warms up a little cause it's only 2 weeks away.

I've got 13 330's this year which is an all time high and I also have 2 new CDR's to set for the first time....should be interesting.

I AM PUMPED!!!

Yeah I love trappin beaver---a smart man once told me--if your not tough when you start trappin beaver you will be when your done--theres a lot of truth to that.

Its getting hot here.  It was in the 70's yesterday---thats about too hot to trap for me---i like it to be cooler---less worries about spoiled fur and fly infested carcus barrels.

It should cool off later this week.
Good Luck on your week off!!

I'm going to do some serious beaver trapping once it warms up a little here in Northern Missouri.  Once it gets warm I have a couple places I really need to hit hard for beaver, I am hoping to catch at leats 6 in these places.  Two spots on the river and a nice pond that I trapped earlier in the year and caught two small beaver under the ice, but I think i'll take more out of it w/ castor mound sets.

We finally have some snow for travel
« Reply #9 on: March 04, 2006, 11:48:53 PM »
Heck I'm just pleased to finally (today) get snow to travel on again. Hope it holds for a while.  Supposed to get more tomorrow. The last week or two have been really rough traveling on nearly snowless tundra. Bad for the snogo and lower back. Might push some of the K9s to my traps - they've had an easy winter so far.  But, it makes it even harder to make a beaver set. I'm done on beaver unless I find some houses to try.
