Handi combo
« on: March 06, 2006, 10:45:11 PM »
I am thinking about a handi combo in 223 and 20ga. I need to know if I buy it in a youth gun does NEF offer a program to get the adult stock? and how much to pay for the stock? The reason for buying it in youth is to get the 20ga in a 20inch barrel.  Can I put a shotgun stock on this action? Thanks guys for any info.  tireman

 Tireman, you can just about get any H&R/NEF stock to fit your combo receiver. One source I'm familiar with is www.gunparts.com(numrich arms). They have a good supply of H&R/NEF parts plus you can get(buy or trade) stuff from these forum guys through the classifieds. I'm sure you'll get more info from guys on the forum that know more than I do. Good shooting. Hunman55

tireman, welcome.  Good Choice.  I know don't if anyone has those combos in stock yet.  In answer to your question YES you can get stocks from lots of different places.  You can also obtain stocks direct from H&R.  If you go to the FAQ at the top of this forum you will find contact info for H&R.  Give them a call and they can give current prices  and selection of the stocks.  Also, be advised, the length of the 20ga barrel is 22".   If you would prefer 12ga over 20ga, you could buy just a rifle and have it fitted with a YOUTH 12ga barrel at the factory.  Yes, 12ga-22" barrel.  As far as I know, that is the only way to get a 22"12ga barrel.  I have one, its sweet.

tireman, check out Gunsource.com  they have some great prices.  You may find what you want there.  Don't forget, you will have to line a FFL dealer to do the transfer.  If that is expensive for you then you won't see much savings.  I can get transfers done for just $10, but some have said the going rate for their area is $25-$50.  Pretty much eats up any savings.
Good Luck

Welcome aboard, Tireman!! :D  While you're looking in the FAQ and Help sticky, check out the 2005 Retail Parts Price lists link, you'll find most all of the stocks listed there and their prices, along with a whole lot more info for ya. And, to get ya off on the right foot, http://www.thegunsource.com has the combos listed and good prices, almost as good as Walmart!!

Thanks for the helpguys. I see gunsourse has it listed in the youth. If I can get walmart to get it there is no shipping charge and i can reg it with them and not need to pay FFL fee. Can it be seen if they can get it from there supplyer.   tireman
