Dang Chester died too?

I see that Dennis Weaver  (Chester in Gunsmoke and McCloud in McCloud) Died today too. He was 81 also. I liked him as a kid but now that  I consider my self a conservative never agreed with him with his liberal views.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

He played some graet characters but turned out to be one of those frog lickin' tree huggers in real life.

Not sure if this is true or not, but I had heard one time that is the reason he never carried a gun in Gunsmoke as he felt it would make him a hypocrite because of his anti gun views. Not sure if that is BS or not???? Any one else ever hear this??

True and now that I think of it he did use a gun at times in Gunsmoke too. Think he still was one of those anti hollywood types when it come to guns in real life.

I know he must have been in other things but all I recall are Chester and McCloud.  Not Shakespear,  but entertaining.

He was the lead character in one of Steven Kings earliest movies, "Dual", about this poor guy that is being chased across the desert by a lunatic driving a gasoline tanker.  If I remember right it kind of launched both of their careers.

Now that you mention it I recall him driving a Dodge Dart or something like that.
