Dumb Question here but how bad is the recoil in the 416 compared to a 300 win mag. I have a 300 win mag barrel for my encore and I find the recoil out of the 300 to be no big deal at all. How does the 416 compare.

Well, I have a 416 Rigby for my Encore. I installed a mercury recoil reducer in the stock and a simms pad. The barrel comes with a muzzle break from the factory. With that set up the recoil is very manageable. The accuracy is great in my opinion. I took a water buffalo at 135 yards with one shot from the 416 Rigby Encore. The recoil is just a little more than my 300 Win Mag barrel. I may be getting rid of mine, I bought a new CZ550 in 416 Rigby.  :D

If both guns weigh the same.

The 416 Rigby recoils 2.53 times the 300 Win Mag, about 56 lbs to 22 lbs.

Speaking from hands on experience and having owned both, I think I can assure you my comment above is very accurate. The muzzle brake helps a lot in the reduction of recoil as well as the Simms pad and mercury recoil suppressor. I am sure without all the added items I installed the recoil would be a handful.  :D
