Dumb Question here but how bad is the recoil in the 416 compared to a 300 win mag. I have a 300 win mag barrel for my encore and I find the recoil out of the 300 to be no big deal at all. How does the 416 compare. :grin:

i would love to know this myself, i have the 300 and dont think the recoil is bad at all..and i have been thinking about the 416 too..

Well, I have a 416 Rigby for my Encore. I installed a mercury recoil reducer in the stock and a simms pad. The barrel comes with a muzzle break from the factory. With that set up the recoil is very manageable. The accuracy is great in my opinion. I took a water buffalo at 135 yards with one shot from the 416 Rigby Encore. The recoil is just a little more than my 300 Win Mag barrel. I may be getting rid of mine, I bought a new CZ550 in 416 Rigby.

If both guns weigh the same.

The 416 Rigby recoils 2.53 times the 300 Win Mag, about 56 lbs to 22 lbs.

Speaking from hands on experience and having owned both, I think I can assure you my comment above is very accurate. The muzzle brake helps a lot in the reduction of recoil as well as the Simms pad and mercury recoil suppressor. I am sure without all the added items I installed the recoil would be a handful.
