I'm considering looking for one of these just for fun long range target/plinking. Anyone having experience with these gats, can you advise:

How are they function, accuracy wise?

I've heard they produce massive blast with surplus and factory ammo, since it's loaded for rifle use... anyone know of handloads tailored to use in a handgun bbl. or a source for them?

...and if so, since most recipes for the .30 carbine out of a short tube were intended for Ruger Blackhawks

Are you aware of any feed or cycling/ejection difficulties in the autoloader?

My father has one. I know he has shot a little, but not recently. I'll try to help as best I can.

Long range plinking......if you are thinking over 50 yards, forget it.
Muzzle blast......I don't recall it being to bad.
Function.....No problems there.
Ergonomics.....Lousy, the grip is to short. I have small,medium sized hands & my pinky finger wants to slide off the bottom of the grip. The grip is also proportioned funny because of the long cartridge length.

If it were me, I would look for something different.

I have to agree that the grip is pretty lousy, handloads are a must or at least loads designed for the shorter barrel. Accuracy plain sucks with factory or surplus fodder. The blast is less than that of a .357 Mag, it just seems like a big blast coming from a semi-auto.

I had one once upon a time and liked it very much. It was stolen, but that's another story (we need more tall trees and short ropes in this country).

The blast was pretty loud, but the kick wasn't bad; I also don't recall the grips being particularly bad. I think they were designed to be held with both hands rather than one.

I used to plink away at 50 and 100 yards. I remember being able to shoot groups of about 1 inch at 25 yards, 3 inches at 50 yards and 6-8 inches at 100 yards. I thought that the sights were very easy to see, but my vision isn't that great (glasses / contacts).

When you shoot in the evening, it puts out a pretty nice flame.
