The two javelinas were shot by Doc and I the first morning.  He was using a new Marlin XLR and leverevolution .30-30 ammo.  I shot mine with a .45-70 guide gun and 300 gr. nosler partition bullets[ I know a little over kill, but I only wanted to take one gun  ].  The truck shot was 3 we took one evening, and could have been 4, except the truck spooked off the 3rd hog coming in to me, and it was getting REAL dark.  The sow, with the GG leaning up against it, was my finest moment,- 180 yd. shot, took out both shoulders, destroying everything inbetween, and exiting.  I have a LOT more confidence in the .45-70 Guide Gun for longer shots, and those are the 6 critters I have taken with the 300 gr. noslers, and they have shot through everything, so far.  I wouldn't hesitate to use the gun out to 250 yds., and yes it will go with me, back to Texas next year.  Thanks for posting the pictures.

Looks like a fun hunt.

Ya know, I've yet to figure out why anyone would shoot a javelina unless it was tearin' up their stuff.

In my experience , they're kinda small and stinky.

I hear some folk eat 'em.  But I hear some folks eat possum too.

It's a big old world, ain't it?

 :)
They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

8) FWiedner.  You are dead on when you say "small and stinky."  We got two this past deer season, that served as a reminder as to why I give up hunting them many years ago.  But I don't kill just for the pleasure of killing.  If it ain't tearing things up or causing a problem, I let em live.  Sides, something that smells so bad my dog won't eat it ain't welcome on my table.

I can understand hunting them, they are a lot of fun.  And to tell the truth, I did eat part of one that we killed, the remainder I gave away.

FWiedner,  you are right about small and stinky.  I think javies are unique little critters, and when you are from Indiana, we don't have them hiding behind every tree  .  I am having mine shoulder mounted[first shoulder mount I have had done in 25 yrs.].  I probably won't shoot another one.  I had the best of intentions of keeping the meat, but even the ranch owner talked me out of it.  This is one thing where I don't think I could get past the smell
