Before you may transport a firearm, ANY, you must file for a ATT (Authorization to Transport) from the THE CHIEF FIREARMS OFFICER OF YOUR PROVINCE OR TERRITORY. YOU MAY ALSO APPLY FOR AN ATT BY TELEPHONE.

Unless you have an ATT, you may not bring any firearm into Canada. The ATT must be approved before crossing the border.

USE THIS FORM, if you are an individual, to apply to the
Chief Firearms Officer for an Authorization to Transport
(ATT) Restricted or Prohibited Firearms.
THE CHIEF FIREARMS OFFICER OF YOUR PROVINCE
OR TERRITORY MUST APPROVE YOUR APPLICATION
FOR AN ATT BEFORE YOU MAY LEGALLY
TRANSPORT RESTRICTED OR PROHIBITED
FIREARMS.
YOU MAY ALSO APPLY FOR AN ATT BY TELEPHONE.
Please call 1 800 731-4000 in Canada and the USA or
1 506 624-5380 outside Canada and the USA.
YOU MAY INCLUDE ANY NUMBER OF FIREARMS on
this application, but you must be transporting all the firearms
for the same reason.
IF YOU ARE TRANSPORTING A FIREARM FOR MORE
THAN ONE REASON, you must fill in a separate application
form for each reason.
IF YOU ARE APPLYING FOR MORE THAN ONE ATT, you
must fill in a separate application form for each ATT you are
requesting.
NON-RESIDENTS MUST OBTAIN AN ATT to temporarily
import restricted firearms into Canada. For further details
see Section A - Personal Information, of this Information
Sheet.
PROHIBITED FIREARMS CANNOT BE IMPORTED INTO
CANADA.
A prohibited firearm is:
- a handgun with a barrel length of 105 mm (4.1 inches) or
less;
- a handgun designed or adapted to discharge 25 or 32
calibre ammunition;
- a rifle or shotgun that has been altered to make it less than
660 mm (26 inches) in overall length;
- a rifle or shotgun that has been altered to make the barrel
length less than 457 mm (18 inches) where the overall
firearm length is 660 mm (26 inches) or more;
- an automatic firearm and a converted automatic firearm;
- any firearm prescribed as prohibited.

Reason for transporting:
i) Transport to and from a point of exit / entry (round trip) (for restricted firearms and prohibited handguns only)
How can there be legal bills or jail time if the person follows the rules.
1. Applys for the ATT
2. Gets it appoved by the correct person
3. Can't cross the border unless you have an ATT
4. And does so within 60 days.
