Anyone have any experience with these rifles. I know they are now being sold under the Remington name for more $$ and as far as I know the name change is the only difference. I had my local gun shop order me one and it should be here Dec. 6th. They appear to be a good looking rifle. I don't know about the accuracy capability though. Thought I would get one from CDNN at the $149.00 price tag while they last.

They are excellent shooters, my dad shoots sub 1 inch groups at 50 yards.

You'll be happy with it. I just got one and shot it today. The metal finish is really good. The trigger has some adjustment. Mine shot just about everything at 3/4"-1" group at 50 yds. The wind was blowing hard and I put an old tasco 4x on it. The trigger is still really creepy. I didn't expect much better groups than that. I enjoyed shooting it because it has good balance and it fits we well.

I think with some minor tuning it will shoot much better. The action has a single screw that is pillared. Some glass bedding should improve it a lot.

Remington is now importing this rifle as the Model Five. I suspect if they work out a few of the snags below it will be even better because of the laminated stock.

Here some things that weren't pefect with mine:
1. front sight seems off-center. But who cares? I'm not going to use it!
2. wood finish and checkering are pitiful. But what do you expect for $149?
3. Barrel is not free floating, nor is the action glass bedded.
4. I turned the set screw on the trigger sear and the head broke. I'm not surprised because the screw is so small.
5. sear is not adjustable unless you remove some metal from the magazine well where the safety transfer engages.
6. the magazine disengaged twice while shooting it. I haven't determined if its my technique or design problem
7. the last cartridge from the magazine feeds at too steep of an angle to engage the chamber easily. I really had to work that last one in there!
8. there aren't any spare magazines available right now. Remington should resolve that problem.

Sounds like it has it's share of problems. But like you said, for $149.00 what do you expect. I had looked at a used one at my local gun shop and thought it was a pretty good looking 22 rifle. The gun shop wanted over $200.00 for their used one.

they can want $200 used and they may very well get that. An informed buyer would offer $150 firm including tax.

the CDNN deal has a total price of $139 (current price) + shipping + FFL fees. I figure total price for me was around $175.

take that 149$ to gander mntn and buy a ruger 10/22 that has none of the problems listed above...problem solved

The guy that owns this gun shop isn't easy to deal with. Being the only gun shop in town means no competition for him. I tried to deal with him before on a used Biathlon Basic without success. I do better if I deal with him on a new item rather than a used one. The $175.00 price is exactly what I will be giving for the rifle.

I am probably one of the few people that is not a fan of the 10/22. I have owned several in the past and the ones I had were not that accurate and one of them jammed quite frequently. And yes I tried a lot of different ammo in them.

I have a CZ 452 Varmint in 22 lr that is very accurate but just wanted another bolt gun that I could shoot shorts or CB's out of for pest and varmint control. Besides, theres no gander mntn around where I live. I do have a Wally World though.

Given what you desire the rifle for and that you have a Wal Mart nearby, I would suggest ordering a Marlin Mod 25. Off hand I don't know what Wal Mart sells them for, but I do know they sell the Mod 25M (.22 mag) for $169, so I would guess the Mod 25 would be at least close to what CDNN is selling the the Daly for. Unfortunatly, you only have one shop near you. I often see used Marlin/Glenfield Mod 25's in the $100 range real good shape and less for models with a little bumps and bruises. Also look at the Savage Mark II's. Our local Wal Mart's always have both the semi-auto and bolt versions in stock. They are right around the $100-$115 mark, I believe.

For what its worth, there has been some discussion from time to time on Rimfire Central regarding the Daly. Many over there who have one say they like it. Seems CDNN had been selling them at that price for some time and its regarded as being a good deal. If you check out Rimfire Central, look in the "Open Rimfire" and "Misc Brand" sections. There is no forum dedicated to the Daly.

I thought about the Savage Mark II's but they just look so cheap and I was able to look at the Charles Daley and thought it was a pretty good looking rifle.

The gun shop owner I am talking about sells used rifles for more than they cost new. So buying a used rifle isn't really an option for me.

When the Charles Daley's are gone you will have to pay a lot more for one, but you will get the Remington name.

The rifle was suppose to be here the 6th but hasn't arrived yet. The gun shop owner swears it will be here tomorrow.

He did call CDNN and they told him it had been shipped.

Yea, I agree with your description of the Savage. I've read a lot of good things about them, but the rifle doesn't fit my fancy either.

The rifle finally came in today but I was out of town and wasn't able to pick it up. I will pick it up tomorrow and try it out. I will post my thoughts about what I think about the rifle in case anyone else is thinking about getting one of them.

I took the Charles Daley out today to see what it would do. All in all I would have to rate this 22 lr rifle a buy. I don't think it will ever take the place of my CZ 452 Varmiter but for the price it is worth the money.

I won't be able to use it for what I wanted to though. It doesn't like the CB caps at all. Groups were bad with the CB caps at around 15 yards. I had no malfunctions and I think it is a pretty decent looking rifle for the money.

I think there may be a 17 cal air rifle in my future. The rifle performed very good with the 22lr ammo. Here is a 5 shot group from 44 yards.

I did a little work on the Charles Daley today. I worked on the trigger and free floated the barrel. I will take it out tomorrow and see if this helps any.

Ive had one for about 8 months. Its been a good gun. I wacked the barrel off just behind the front sight holes and recrowned it and filled the rear sight holes. It slooks much better without sights. Gun will shoot along side my buddys kimber bolt and my browing bolt.

I still haven't taken the rifle out to see if my work will improve the groups any. Been too busy and when I am not it rains. I will soon though.
