Spartan rifles...by Remington..
« on: November 09, 2005, 01:42:46 AM »
The Remington website is down right now, overhaul I presume..
I got a look at their Spartan guns (Russian) by going to ... <www.spartangunworks.com/>...
I have no doubt that NEF is the best buy in SS rifles, but when one wants a combination or double rifle...the prices would seem very attractive.
I have heard that some of the first ones delivered were a bit rough, but can't conceive of Remington allowing really rough work to continue..
Perhaps quality control is already started, since all models are listed with Walnut stocks.

What attracted my attention particularly, was the over/under .22 mag/shotgun. It seems that with this rifle and a supply of .22 mags, .410 shot shells and slugs, one would be ready for varied hunting...perhaps an ideal "truck gun"...
   Centerfire combo...$516
...And a double rifle for $559..
....wonder what they will be going for at GM ?

I know that double rifle barrels rarely shoot to the same point, but the extra round if close, may come in handy...  and think of the conversations at deer camp !...LOL

   What think you ?

I've looked at that web-sitet as well.  I've wanted a double rifle ever since I got to go to Holland and Holland's store in London and see some of their inventory.  Of course, $200,000 is a bit out of my price range :-) I was thinking that a double in 30/30 or 30-06 would be a great short range or brush deer rifle.  Like a good SS, there's something special and classy about a double rifle that bolt actions just don't quite seem to carry.
You only take one shot at a time, so don't waste it :cb2:

Interesting. I've often thought a .45-70 double rifle would be fun to play with. I see they offer one. The operating pressure isn't much above a Trapdoor though at 25-28,000 cup.

CDNN is still selling the Baikal O/U and double rifles.  The 7x57R/12 is going for $279 with 100 rounds of factory rifle ammo included.  They also have a rimfire/shotgun combo and doubles in 30-06 and 223.  Don't work for them but they have always treated me right...

Do you have a link for CDNN? I did a search on Google and came up with CDNN Sports, but they don't even carry firearms from what I can tell?

CDNN doesn't show their firearms online, but they do in their catalogs. Give em a call....

Hi Country Boy,

If you go down the topics you will find one :-

"Finally Got the Baikal to the range"

It concerns a Baikal .222 Rem chambered single shot break action rifle which is what the spartan one is. Including a photo of a 3 shot group shot with factory ammo. It might answer your question for you.
