Shooting in the rain and accuracy.
« on: March 10, 2006, 08:03:31 PM »
This weekend I'm definately going to the range, and it's going to rain both days.  It wont be very windy, just rainy.
What kind of effects can I expect at 100 and 200 yards?
I'll be shooting a spectrum of calibers from both handguns and rifles: .22, .32, .357, .40, .223, .308, 45-70 & 12ga (the .40 and .32 wont be going out past 50 yards).
The .308 I shoot out to 500 yards, but I doubt I'll be able to hear the plates getting hit even if I can get a shot out that far.

My only experience in heavy rain is shooting my 58cal Huntsman.  At 100 yards heavy rain made it shoot low by about 6 inches, the group size stayed about the same.  That was with a round ball.  Larry
A gun is just like a parachute, if you ever really need one, nothing else will do.

Well, no rain, just cold and damp.

But I did have my greatest group, ever.
1/2" (max.. all shots touching)
3 shots of South African .308 100yds.
Had a few 1-1.75" groups with same ammo.
An amazing day.
