My version of a pack howitzer
« on: March 12, 2006, 11:55:14 AM »
Here's one I built out of a old mortar barrel , it comes completely apart for easy transport, I have made up some canister rounds
to shoot  out of it .. will still fire as a mortar also..I  have a line on some wooden  spoke 18 in  wheels I'm going to put on it so i can lighten it up ... [/img[/img]

Thanks guys , got two more pics  first is the elevation screw I cut this out of a scissors style car jack,,the black part rests down in a notch carved out of the carraige

 [/img]
second is a pic of said screw in place this can be adjusted all the way down,  the barrel sits at a 15 degree elevation at it's lowest point[

Very nice. Could you post more pics showing the elevating mechanism please.
I may not be completely sane, but at least I don't think I have the power to influence the weather.

Those cast wheels give it a Victorian character!  Don't replace them!

Charcoal Burner.

That's a nice job and was a lot of work.. I admire anyone who spends their time and finances making any thing under the sun.

The guys at work say

"and you go home and do WHAT?.

you don't get enough of that around here?"

Projects like these will out live their creators and be family treasures for generations.

Forgot to mention ..in the bottom of the notch their is a 1/2 in hole that goes through to the bottom of the trail, so when you screw the barrel completly down the elevation screw is hidden in the trail...
