new sights
« on: March 14, 2006, 11:04:41 AM »
I've got a used but in halfway decent shape Model 760 in 300 Savage and want to upgrade the sights.  Won't get rid of the originals but want to use this gun more.  I was looking at some buckhorns and notice they have some windage adjustment built into the rear sight now.  Is there a specific version that I need for this rifle or will any dove tail design work?  I'm also wondering if there are any fiber optic sights that will work?

Thanks,

Josh
My wife once made the mistake of telling me "all of your guns look alike"...No, I've had this gun for a long time! LOL

I don't have a Remington pump, but I did put HiViz sights on my Winchester 94 last year.  The difference was astounding!  I wanted better windage adjustments.  I found a 1/4 turn of the rear screw equaled 1" elevation adjustment at 100 yards.  With my handloads and the new sights, I can shoot 1 1/2" groups at 100 yards--with IRON SIGHTS!!!

The HiViz were easy to put into the dovetails.  The rear portion slid right in; however, the front sight was a little tight, so I had to file some metal off the new front sight.  I think they made it that way to fit various makes.  I don't know if they make one specifically for Remington, but check it out.

Good Luck!

Oops on my part--I put TruGlo on my Winchester 94.  I use HiViz on my 870 for turkey hunting.

I see on the TruGlo website that they make sights specifically for Remingtons.

Good Luck.
