No more 30-30's?
« on: March 21, 2006, 08:57:43 AM »
I was told today Winchester has stopped making their model 94 30-30's.
I knew the model 70 bolt actions were gone and that is bad enough but the 30-30!
   Say it ain't so!

You heard right, no more Model 94s, at least for now. That's the bad news, the good news is that the Marlin 336 in good old 30-30 is readily available.

From what I hear, the company (FN ??  - some European company)  that leases the "Winchester" name, and makes "Winchesters" closed down the one and only plant making the regular M94s & M70s.  So those rifles aren't being made, until something is worked out.

I  believe the Miroku folks in Japan can still make the special M92s.

I hope someone starts making M94s again.  This year's catalog had several takedowns I was drooling over.   And a good Winchester M92 woiuld be really sweet - although the EMF M92 clones are very good when worked over by a gunsmith specializing in them.

Not to mention the fact that there are at least 7 million of them out there already.
Hardly a rare item though prices are now double what they were a month ago for used ones.
Then there is always Marlin.
A better rifle in the 1st place.

It is all true , no more M94 or m70, or m1300 scatterguns either. I think ammo is still going to be available, I hope so anyway , all i shoot out of my 44 raging bull is their excellent 240 gr partition gold. about the 30/30 though, the marlin 336 is a better rifle, just my 2 cents, good hunting!
