I just installed a new walnut stock on a weatherby vanguard chambered in .270 win. I love the way it looks and I'm think about installed one on a .300 weatherby also in a vanguard, however I'm concerned that the recoil will be to great for a walnut stock without a recoil bolt installed like you see on .375 H&H's. I would really rather not install a bolt since I don't consider it a do-it-yourself job for my skill level. Would I be better to skip it and just go with a laminated stock? I seen a .338 win mag in a walnut vanguard that didn't have a bolt, so can I just skip it? Your ideas would be appreciated.
