This is out of the NRA's American Hunter Mag.

"The Pennsylvania based airlines USA 3000 has banned all transportation of firearms and ammunition in passengers baggage, both carry on and checked. This means you can't use this airlines when traveling to shoots or hunts if you intend to bring a firearm. USA 3000 executives made their own discretion, even though no other major airlines in America has chosen to trample on the rights of law-abiding Americans. At press time, Trevor Sadler, Director of Sales and Contracts of USA 3000, had not responded to numerous requests for an interview. There are nearly 1 million deer hunters in the airlines home state of Pennsylvania. Hunters and shooters are tourists too. So inevitably the loss of business from the NRA's nearly 4 million members will have a financial impact on USA 3000. Currently, other airlines in the United States have Transportation Security Agency (TSA) approved policies that allow hunters and shooters to check firearms."

Never even heard of them so they can't be too large. We travel a few times a year and will much likely use a major airline and spend a few extra bucks than some "fly-by-night" outfit.

They must be based in Phila. They think that they are their own state. This is an embarrassment to me. They won't get any of my money. I'm glad you posted this. Thanks Redhawk1.

take the link that was posted above to this airline and let them know how you feel. I sent them an e-mail to their group rate e-mail as that was the only e-mail i could find for them. give them a call on their resevation line its free, book a flight with them then canceal when they inform you they dont take firearms. waste a little of their time hit them in the pocket book. be polite and remember you are representing all gun owners.

Letting firms like that know how you feel, from group perspectives, is often more effective than just not using their services. Redhawk1 has a good idea - let them know how we feel about firms or companies that discriminate against the sportsman/woman. The most effective deterrent to discrimination at the company level is often the dollar sign. Remember what happened to S&W when they were under British rule, and K-Mart when they decided to drop their firearms from sales.

Use another carrier and let USA3000 know why. JMHO. Mikey.

" want to book a flight down to Florida for an up coming hunting trip. I want to know what your airlines regulations are for transporting hunting handgun and ammo in checked luggage and prices"

when they come back with they will not let firearms on the airline I will let them have it and tell them I will take my money elsewhere

I E-mailed them and told them that the "forbidden" list was too long. "Please send me a list of things that I am allowed to take on your airline." I don't think that I will hear from them :twisted:

Before everyone goes off half cocked go the their site and look up the restricted items and see this note:

"Note: Check with your airline or travel agent to see if firearms are permitted in checked baggage on the airline you are flying. Ask about limitations or fees, if any, that apply. Firearms carried as checked baggage MUST be unloaded, packed in a locked hard-sided gun case, and declared to the airline at check-in. Only you, the passenger, may have the key or combination."

I could find nowhere on their site that prohibits checked firearms. That is all I could find. Maybe we will get a different story when RickyP gets his response back about the hunting trip.

I sent them a letter with my contact info and said I'd be happy to speak to anyone who cared about my concerns. I haven't heard a word, written or spoken. Interesting what you found on the web page though... I hope they really have the policy Redhawk posted.

I just read your link and I'm left wondering if you cannot carry guns onto the flight but you can check them if declared. It's far from clear.

I thought the same thing. I thought that rickyp would get back to us after hearing from the airline, but I guess he was just as flip with as with us.

I'm sure we will see a turn around on this subject if that company knows what is in their best money making interest. I can't see them going with this one and not losing any money for it.

since I've never heard of this airline it probably will not affect my travel any. I do fly to Maine to hunt occasonally, I just avoid unfriendly airports and airlines. I usually fly into Manchester as opposed to Boston even though I could get a better deal on Alaska Air to Boston.

It is helpful to know so I can avoid flying with them. I do doubt they service a very large area or some of us would have heard of them.

Perhaps they did not respond to the Florida question because the don't fly there. Regards, Byron
